I have been busy looking over the large number of applications for people who wish to come out to Izanagi to work with me in the Chemistry team. As expected, the special merit award has drawn some attention from the scientific community. The UEA has requested my chosen 5 shortlisted candidates in the next round of communications, for them to arrive at Izanagi on the earliest possible shuttle.

I will have to consider the various specialities amongst the applications and the best combinations for research potential moving forward.

I have worked with some of them previously, yes.

You should choose one of them, then. They'll know you better and know what to expect.

I will assess each application fairly, with consideration of their respective fields of expertise.

Given the amount of information that has been sent about colonising Izanagi so far, it would be expected that any scientist applying would have done their research and considered whether this is an environment that they would work well in.

...I meant with you. I would hate for some poor sap who had never met you to come here for 5 years just to have his idol dreams dashed.

There is minimal chance of my level of success and work output decreasing over the next 5 years. There should be no chance of 'dashing idol dreams'.

I have factored my personality into considering my ongoing level of work output over the next 5 years on Izanagi.

Yes, I'm looking forward to expanding my experiments. Particularly with some of the new blob data that we brought back from the expedition

Good. Let me know if you need any specialized equipment or rooms. We don't want any incidents while you're discovering new scientific breakthroughs.

I am considering my next project now that I have returned from expedition. Unfortunately, some of my experiments were more unstable than predicted and did not survive the two weeks.

Perhaps trying to recreate matcha.

All the more reason to get your minions in place. They can keep an eye on your projects while you're out of the office.


An intriguing challenge. Though matcha powder is more stable and easier to ship than things like milk and cheese.

I hope I am not away from my lab again for a while.

It may give a new direction to approach recreating plant-foods from where other experiments have been less than successful.

It's good to be able to take days off. I was lectured quite extensively by the medical staff about that.


Makes sense. We do that in engineering a lot. Approach something new with information and skills we have from previous projects that were similar.

Of course. I hope you have been making adjustments to your training programme.

Do you have some a small sample of matcha I could analyse?

I always have requests for books, Sadaharu. However, I do not have the space for them.

That is a shame. Perhaps you should talk to Genichirou about building you a small library space.

I'm not sure he would agree with indulging my book hoarding habits.

Evidently. There was not much excitement over the successful synthesis of milk, however.

It's not book hoarding if they are gifts.

Everyone is used to milk being widely available via other means, I think.

Gifts, while treasured, still take up space, like Genichirou's oribots.
